Tebas compares Real Madrid to Nazi propaganda – Club demands resignation
While LaLiga president Javier Tebas, in a social‑media statement, compares Real Madrid’s communication methods to the propaganda of the Nazi regime, the record champion responds with a sharp statement and demands the immediate resignation of the league chief. The conflict stems from Real Madrid’s criticism of Tebas’ handling of the refereeing system.
Comparison that sparks outrage
In his message on the platform X, the 64‑year‑old Tebas described the repeated use of Real‑Madrid‑TV clips, which in his view show erroneous decisions by the referees, as “systematic repetition, construction of an enemy and subordination of the facts to the narrative”. He drew the comparison to Joseph Goebbels, the propaganda minister of National Socialism.
Real Madrid called these statements “absolutely intolerable and extremely serious”. In an official statement the club emphasized that the clarification that Tebas does not refer to Nazi ideology does not change the “deeply offensive, morally reprehensible and institutionally undignified character” of his words.
Club demands resignation
The Spanish record champion demanded in the same statement the immediate resignation of Javier Tebas both as president of LaLiga and as vice‑president of the Spanish football federation. Real Madrid also criticised the lack of neutrality and the missing respect that, according to the club, Tebas shows with his statements.

Tebas responded again on X and accused Real Madrid of destroying the national competition. He referred to the failed Superliga initiative and accused the club of damaging the competition with a distorted portrayal in the media. Tebas demanded that Real refute false claims, state the truth and list all facts before further demands for his resignation are made.
The dispute has already revived earlier criticism of Real Madrid’s refereeing policy. The club led by president Florentino Pérez has long alleged a supposed disadvantage by the Spanish refereeing system and uses Real‑Madrid‑TV to publicly denounce contentious decisions.

Additionally, Real Madrid has filed a complaint with the European Football Union (UEFA) against FC Barcelona, concerning payments to a refereeing official. The conflict over refereeing policy thus remains a central issue in Spanish football.
