Thomas Henry joins Reggiana as Courtois eyes the club's shares
Thomas Henry, the French striker who left Standard this summer, has signed a two‑year contract with Reggiana in the Italian Serie C and could step onto the pitch as early as this weekend against Torres Calcio, according to local media Telereggio.
A return awaited after an injury
After a summer spent in Standard’s B squad, Henry left Sclessin at the end of the transfer window, taking advantage of an exit door offered by Reggiana. Having undergone knee surgery, he is preparing to resume playing and local supporters are awaiting his first glimpse. Telereggio indicates that the club plans to give him between fifteen and twenty minutes as a second striker in order to gradually regain rhythm.
Pressing offensive needs
Reggiana are currently enduring three consecutive defeats without scoring, which makes Henry’s return crucial to revive the attack. The coach hopes that the arrival of the native of Argenteuil will provide a quick solution to the team’s finishing problems.
Vincent Euvrard, who has not been in the starting lineup at Standard since January and was absent from the squad throughout the Europe Playoffs, was more in the Belgian club’s plans than in Reggiana’s, which facilitated Henry’s departure.
Meanwhile, the name of Thibaut Courtois is resurfacing in the upper echelons of the Italian club. According to Telereggio, the Belgian goalkeeper and his associate Gonzalo Vila would be very interested in acquiring shares of Reggiana through the investment fund NxtPlay.
Two other investment funds have also expressed interest, but NxtPlay, already a shareholder in Genk, Le Mans and Extremadura, would be in pole position. The discussions especially focus on the potential roles of the current president and vice‑president in the new structure.
Courtois, who has already invested in motor sport and e‑Sport, could thus further diversify his acquisition portfolio by partnering with a club playing in Serie C.
