Thomas Müller extends until 2027 with Vancouver Whitecaps in America
Thomas Müller has extended his contract with the Vancouver Whitecaps until the summer of 2027, the MLS‑club reports via its official channels. The 37‑year‑old German, who came to Vancouver in the summer of 2025, now remains for two more seasons in America. With the extension he remains bound to the club until the end of the Sprint Season 2027.
Upon his arrival, Müller signed a contract that tied him to the Whitecaps until the end of 2025. The original agreement gave the club the certainty of one full season.
The new agreement adds another full campaign, meaning he is now under contract until the summer of 2027. This gives Vancouver an experienced midfielder for two extra years.
Why Vancouver wants to keep Müller
Currently the team leads the Western Conference of MLS, which puts the club in a strong position for the play‑offs. Retaining a World Cup champion strengthens both the sporting and commercial profile.
The next season features a shortened competition, because MLS is switching to a calendar that matches that in Europe. This change means a more intense schedule for all clubs.
‘I have greatly enjoyed my time here from the start’, says Müller to the club channel. ‘Vancouver welcomed me with open arms and felt like home from the beginning. I still love being on the pitch every week and I feel physically fit.’
Müller spent his entire European career at Bayern Munich, where he won thirteen league titles, two Champions League‑trophies and six German cups with Der Rekordmeister. He earned 131 caps for Germany and became World Cup champion in 2014.
