Tottenham sign Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson on free
Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed Andy Robertson will join on July 1 as a free transfer. The Scotland captain arrives after a nine-year spell at Liverpool. Manager Roberto De Zerbi said Robertson's experience and winning mentality will benefit the squad.
Robertson has made 378 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 14 goals and providing 69 assists. De Zerbi described him as a player he has admired for years and highlighted his leadership on and off the pitch.
Robertson was part of Liverpool sides that won two Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FA Cup and two League Cups. He partnered with Trent Alexander-Arnold to redefine the modern attacking full-back role. His peak years came under manager Jurgen Klopp.
Last season Robertson featured in 36 matches across all competitions but started only 11 Premier League games as Liverpool favoured a younger left-back. His contract expired in the summer, prompting his departure. Tottenham had explored a winter move but Liverpool rejected a mid-season exit; interest revived once he became available on a free. The signing adds to De Zerbi's squad building after securing Premier League status on the final day of last season.
