Trabzonspor eye Wolves defender Nasser Djiga as January target

Trabzonspor have shortlisted Wolverhampton Wanderers centre‑back Nasser Djiga as a primary transfer target ahead of the January transfer window, hoping to add English football talent to their back line. The 23‑year‑old Burkina Faso international is currently valued at €8 million.

Background and contract

Wolves secured Djiga’s signature in February 2025, beating competition from Galatasaray to sign the defender on a long‑term deal that runs until June 2030. The move turned the player from a Galatasaray target into a Championship core for Wolverhampton Wanderers.

After a successful 42‑match loan spell at Rangers in Scotland, Djiga returned to Molineux and quickly became a key figure in the Wolves defence.

He has started six of Wolves’ opening seven Championship fixtures this season and has also featured in three domestic cup games, underscoring his importance to the side.

Trabzonspor’s recruitment team cites Djiga’s aerial dominance and recovery pace as an ideal fit for the physical demands of the Trendyol Süper Lig, describing him as the perfect English‑style defender for the Black Sea club.

Negotiations may hinge on whether Wolverhampton Wanderers are prepared to allow a mid‑season departure while they chase promotion back to the Premier League, a decision that could shape both clubs’ plans for the remainder of the campaign.
