Trabzonspor’s triple‑pay offer pushes Richarlison towards exit
Foto: Esporte News Mundo – Brazilian striker Richarlison is set to leave Tottenham in the coming days of the European summer transfer window, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, having agreed a move to Trabzonspor where he will earn triple his current wage. The Turkish side turned down two bids from the Spurs – £15 million (R$ 103 million) and £20 million (R$ 137 million) – as negotiations near completion.
Why Trabzonspor target Richarlison
The Turkish club, based in the city of Trabzon, treats the Brazilian as its top priority, hoping his experience will bolster a squad that just made history by signing Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah after his departure from Liverpool. As the biggest club outside Istanbul, Trabzonspor will compete in the Conference League this season and sees Richarlison as a key striker to complement Salah. The move also aligns with the club’s ambition to strengthen its attacking options ahead of European fixtures.
Offers rejected and deadline
Os Spurs have already rejected two offers – £15 million (R$ 103 million) and £20 million (R$ 137 million) – despite the financial incentive. The Turkish window remains open until Friday the 4th, giving Trabzonspor roughly 48 hours to finalise the deal. This narrow timeframe adds pressure on both parties to reach an agreement before the market closes.
Richarlison’s spell at Tottenham has been turbulent after he publicly claimed to have faced pressure, threats and retaliation to force his exit. Following Tottenham’s 2‑0 defeat to Newcastle on Saturday the 29th, manager Roberto De Zerbi confirmed the striker was among those who asked to leave in the final days of the window, resulting in his omission from the last match. An earlier attempt to involve him in a swap with Everton fell through, and he has not returned to the side where he once was an idol.
If the transfer proceeds, Richarlison will swap a strained Premier League environment for a lucrative contract in Turkey, potentially revitalising his career. Tottenham, meanwhile, will lose a forward they have struggled to integrate, while also having turned down substantial offers that could have bolstered their finances. Both clubs therefore face a pivotal shift as the window draws to a close.
The Brazilian has been in English football since 2017, when Fluminense sold him to Watford. He then spent four seasons at Everton before completing a move to Tottenham in 2022. His experience across the Premier League and now a possible return to the Turkish league underscores a career marked by several high‑profile transfers.
