Turkey's Montella accepts responsibility, deserved whistles

After the heavy 4-1 defeat against Italy, the Turkish head coach Vincenzo Montella avoided excuses, acknowledging the difficulties of his national team and admitting responsibility for the whistles and the protest from the Bursa crowd, especially in the first half of the game.

Montella said: "As a team, in the first half we deserved to be whistled at and challenged." He added that the team is not used to matches of this level every three days, highlighting insufficient preparation.

"As a national side we are not used to playing matches of this level every three days," he continued, adding that the approach to the game was not up to the opponent's quality.

The coach urged not to lose confidence: "From this match we must learn. We must analyze especially the first 30 minutes carefully." He emphasized: "We must not lose confidence: we have gotten this far thanks to our work."

The Bursa crowd accompanied the performance with whistles, especially in the first half, and called for the resignation of the former Aeroplanino. Montella acknowledged that these reactions reflect frustration over the defeat.

Despite the heavy blow, Montella asked the squad to get back on the pitch in the best possible way and to keep fighting. He reiterated the importance of analyzing the first 30 minutes to improve performance.

The next challenge will see Guler and his staff face Belgium in the third matchday of Group 1 of League A. Montella promised to study those first minutes carefully to avoid future mistakes.
