Twente's chase for Marseille keeper De Lange reveals depth ambitions
FC Twente have opened talks to sign 28‑year‑old goalkeeper Jeffrey De Lange from Olympique de Marseille, with the Dutchman’s contract at the French club set to expire at the end of the 2025‑26 season, and the move could materialise this summer as both parties explore options.
De Lange arrived at Marseille from Go Ahead Eagles in the summer of 2024, having previously spent three seasons with FC Twente. Twente have already made contact with Marseille regarding a potential transfer, noting that his current deal runs until the summer of 2026.
At Marseille, De Lange has been the understudy to Argentina international Geronimo Rulli, limiting his opportunities. He has featured in only ten matches across all competitions during his two full seasons at the Vélodrome.
De Lange is a former Netherlands youth international, adding pedigree to his profile. He previously made three Eredivisie appearances for Twente between 2018 and 2022 before moving to Go Ahead Eagles.
Last season, Lille OSC expressed interest in the goalkeeper, but he remained at Marseille. With limited playing time, the summer window presents a realistic chance for him to depart.
For FC Twente, securing De Lange would bolster their goalkeeping options with a player familiar with the club’s environment. Marseille could benefit by freeing up wages and a squad slot as his contract approaches its final year.
Negotiations are ongoing, and the outcome will depend on the clubs reaching an agreement before the contract expires. The details of the potential deal were reported by Luke Entwistle.
