Udinese confirm Polski midfielder's successful heart ablation

Udinese Calcio confirmed on Monday, 14 September, that the Polski Reprezentant Jakub Piotrowski has successfully undergone a cardiac ablation after showing mild arrhythmia symptoms during his Serie A start against SS Lazio, where he was withdrawn after just 15 minutes in the match.

Procedure and medical clearance

The operation was performed at the IRCCS Policlinico San Donato in San Donato Milanese by Professors Fiorenza Gaita and Carlo Pappone. In the official club statement the procedure was described as “pełnym powodzeniem”, meaning it was completed with full success.

Udinese Calcio added that, after a short period of rest and monitoring, the player will be able to resume regular training gradually. “Il calciatore, dopo un breve periodo di riposo e monitoraggio, potrà riprendere progressivamente gli allenamenti regolari,” the club wrote, noting that the exact timetable will be set by the medical staff.

Match debut, substitution and season tally

Piotrowski made his Serie A debut in the home fixture against SS Lazio, a game that ended 1:2. He was substituted after only 15 minutes by Lennona Millera, having displayed signs of a mild cardiac arrhythmia.

The Polish midfielder arrived at Udinese in early August of the previous year from Bulgarian side Ludogorets Razgrad. Since then he has featured in four matches across Serie A and the Coppa Italia, accumulating 236 minutes of play.

During those appearances he found the net once and received two yellow cards. No specific date has been given for his return to competitive action, as the club will decide based on his clinical and functional recovery.
