Vinícius Júnior skips the Clásico: RFEF confirms four Liga matches
The RFEF Appeals Committee rejected the appeal filed by Real Madrid, confirming the four‑match suspension for Brazilian forward Vinícius Júnior. The decision means the player will miss the Clásico against Barcelona and three other La Liga fixtures.
Reason for the decision
The ruling concerns Vinícius’s dismissal in the match against Villarreal, where the Brazilian received a red card in the latest La Liga round, which the Blancos won 1‑0. The Committee deemed the sanction appropriate, finding no refereeing errors.
Club’s requests rejected
Real Madrid had asked for the suspension to be overturned or, alternatively, for a reduction of the penalty, contesting both the two matchdays linked to the direct dismissal and the additional two for protests against referee Díaz de Mera. However, the Appeals Committee rejected all of the club’s arguments.
Absence schedule
Vinícius will miss the home match against Sevilla, the Clásico at Camp Nou on 25 October, and the subsequent games against Racing Santander (1 November) and Valencia (7 November). His return is slated only after the international break, on the weekend of 21‑22 November.
The loss is a severe blow for Real Madrid, which will have to do without one of its key attackers right in the season’s most anticipated match.
