Violent pre‑match clash clouds Huracán‑Deportivo Riestra showdown

On Saturday 22 August, a wave of violence erupted in the vicinity of the Tomás Adolfo Ducó stadium as Huracán prepared to host Deportivo Riestra for the sixth round of the Clausura. The incidents left several people injured and resulted in a number of arrests, casting a dark shadow over the pre‑match atmosphere.

Supporters' clash erupts in Parque Patricios

Concern and indignation grew among fans as the Incidentes unfolded before the Huracán‑Deportivo Riestra match. According to Infobae, the turmoil stemmed from a fierce internal dispute within the Globo barra brava, which burst into open gunfire and knife attacks in Parque Patricios.

The police report is still pending, but the confrontation between a dissident faction and the so‑called ‘official’ group had been foreshadowed on social media for days. The media outlet noted that the clashes were not a new phenomenon, having been hinted at online long before the Saturday events.

Attacks began at approximately 17:00 in streets surrounding the Ducó venue, and by 21:00 the match between the home side and the Malevo kicked off. The timing meant that the violence unfolded just as the teams were about to take the field.

Key hotspots identified were Plaza España in the Caseros and Baigorri districts and Plaza José C. Paz in Parque Patricios, both serving as main stages for the confrontation. Two motorcycles, each carrying two men, opened fire, igniting the battle.

Police intervened, preventing the situation from worsening and, fortunately, no fatalities were recorded. Authorities detained 14 supporters and seized a .32 calibre revolver, several knives and other bladed weapons.

Despite Huracán’s recent triumph in the classic against San Lorenzo, the club has a history of recurring tensions since 2024 over ticket allocations, financial benefits and internal power struggles, which likely fueled the unrest.
