Vlahovic pitches himself to Barcelona as they eye Alvarez and Kane
Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic has formally approached FC Barcelona, offering himself as a free‑transfer centre‑forward from 1 July after turning down Juventus’ lower‑salary extension and a Besiktas bid, while the Catalan club says its preferred targets remain Julian Alvarez or Harry Kane.
Barcelona need a new star centre‑forward after releasing Robert Lewandowski. Lewandowski has agreed a free transfer to join the Chicago Fire.
Vlahovic will become a free agent on 1 July after letting his Juventus contract run down. He rejected an extension that offered a lower salary.
He had expected many clubs across Europe to submit offers, but only Besiktas, under coach Vincenzo Italiano, made a formal bid. Unconvinced by the Turkish side, Vlahovic is now alerting Barcelona to his availability.
Barcelona remain uneasy about Vlahovic’s recent injury history and overall credentials. Their first choice is Julian Alvarez, though Atletico Madrid have closed that door, threatening to denounce the move to FIFA.
A second candidate gaining attention is England striker Harry Kane, who has been scoring consistently for Bayern Munich. Kane’s form adds pressure on Barcelona’s transfer plans.
Juventus originally paid over €85 million to sign Vlahovic from Fiorentina in January 2022.
Vlahovic’s free‑agency begins on 1 July, aligning with the start of the summer transfer window.
