Westerlo's Bryan Reynolds sparks Ligue 1 and Scottish interest
After four seasons anchoring KVC Westerlo, American right‑back Bryan Reynolds is set to embark on a new chapter as his contract enters the final year, with Ligue 1 clubs and Scottish Premiership side Glasgow Rangers already circling his signature and evaluating offers.
This season he featured in 39 matches, netting two goals and providing four decisive passes, ranking among the league's top right‑backs. Despite the output, he was omitted from the United States squad for the World Cup.
Reynolds is in the final year of a four‑year deal signed in the summer of 2023, after Westerlo invested €3 million to secure his permanent transfer from AS Roma. The club now aims to recoup that outlay before his contract expires.
He spent an initial spell on loan at Courtrai, where he logged 27 appearances, scored once and delivered five assists. Impressed by his performances, Westerlo offered him a permanent four‑year contract at the start of the 2023‑24 season.
Since joining permanently, Reynolds has amassed 146 appearances for Westerlo, contributing five goals and 17 assists from the right flank.
Westerlo has set a asking price of €4‑5 million for the Texan defender. Interest has emerged from Stade Rennes and Glasgow Rangers, the latter seeking a replacement for captain James Tavernier.
According to club official Sacha Tavolieri, Rennes appear closest to finalising a deal, having been in talks longer than other suitors. However, the French side will also compete with Polish international Przemyslaw Frankowski, whose season has been disrupted by injuries.
Reynolds is expected to make his decision in the coming days, with his future likely to be decided by the outcome of the ongoing negotiations.
