World-famous Maracanã set to host Women’s World Cup 2027 final

In the world‑famous setting of Rio de Janeiro, the Women’s World Cup 2027 will culminate with its final at the iconic Maracanã Stadium, a decision confirmed by FIFA for the tournament’s decisive match next year, bringing together 32 qualified teams from across the globe.

FIFA designated the Maracanã Stadium as the final venue for the Women’s World Cup 2027. The governing body confirmed the decision, recalling that the stadium hosted the 2014 title win of the German men’s national team. The competition will crown the women’s world champions in a historic football finale.

German women secure early qualification

The Germany women’s national team, under head coach Christian Wück, have already secured their place in the tournament. They qualified as one of 32 teams for the competition scheduled from 24 June to 25 July in Brazil.

The host nation, Brazil, tops Group A and will open its campaign on 24 June at the Maracanã Stadium. As the top of the group, the host team begins the tournament on home soil.

Rio de Janeiro will also stage one of the semi‑final matches, while the other semi‑final and the third‑place match are slated for São Paulo. These fixtures add to the city’s role in the later stages of the tournament.

Additional match venues include the capital Brasília, as well as Belo Horizonte, Fortaleza, Porto Alegre, Salvador and Recife. The spread of cities ensures a nationwide showcase of the tournament. Fans will travel to the Maracan, the beloved nickname of the stadium.

The date for the group draw has not yet been announced. Spain enters the competition as the defending champion.
