Xavi takes the blame after the Netherlands' draw in Greece

The new Netherlands manager, Xavi Hernández, admitted on the microphones that the lack of results in the first half of the match against Greece was his fault. The game, played in Thessaloniki, ended in a 2-2 draw thanks to a goal by Tijjani Reijnders in the 89th minute.

Responsibility and tactical adjustments

With a serious expression, Xavi, whose name appeared in Giannis Papanikos's photo, took the floor and said: "It was my fault." He assured that the starting lineup, which included Guus Til and Quinten Timber alongside Joey Veerman, had not been the right one to create chances.

After the break, the Terrassa coach introduced Ryan Gravenberch, the scorer Reijnders and Noa Lang, radically changing the course of the match. "I have also told the players, I think it was my fault," Xavi reiterated, adding that the first half had produced nothing.

The Dutchman emphasized that the lineup was not good and that it was also necessary to change the team's mindset. "We had a fantastic reaction in the second half, that is the ambition I want to see," he said.

Although he praised the improvement, Xavi confessed that he is never satisfied with a draw. "In the end, I am never satisfied with a draw," he concluded, recalling his past as a player and coach of FC Barcelona.

Journalist Sergio Escario, present at the press conference, captured Xavi's statements, who also noted that the players were somewhat sad after the first half and that it had been necessary to restructure the team.
