Yamal, Rodri and Merino carry La Roja to victory in the Nations League

La Roja beat the Czech Republic 3-1 in a Nations League match played Saturday night in Oviedo, thanks to goals from Lamine Yamal (6'), Rodri (35') and Mikel Merino (89'). The only opponent goal was scored by Jiri Slama in the 69th minute, while defender Ladislav Krejčí was sent off in the 85th minute.

Yamal's lightning start

In the sixth minute, the 16‑year‑old prodigy Lamine Yamal received the ball at the left‑hand corner of the box, dribbled, feinted and unleashed a powerful shot that found the top corner, opening the scoring (1-0). Yamal's shirts were everywhere in Barcelona, testifying to the excitement generated by his feat.

Before the break, midfielder Rodri doubled the lead in the 35th minute, scoring his fifth international goal. The captain placed his hooked nose at the right moment to direct the ball into Antonin Kinsky's net, taking the score to 2-0.

Czech reaction and conclusion

In the second half, the Czech Republic reduced the gap to 2-1 thanks to Jiri Slama in the 69th minute, but the match swung again when Ladislav Krejčí, Wolverhampton defender, was sent off in the 85th minute, leaving the Czechs with ten men.

Six minutes later, Mikel Merino scored the third Spanish goal in the 89th minute, sealing the final result (3-1). Luis de la Fuente thus gave La Roja a third consecutive win in three Nations League matchdays.

La Roja supporters, already standing from the early minutes, praised Yamal's talent throughout the match, confirming the impact of the young phenomenon on Spanish football.
