1. FC Köln triggers Jakub Kaminski permanent transfer option
The 1. FC Köln has activated the permanent signing clause for Jakub Kaminski, ending his Wolfsburg loan.
Kaminski, 23, joined Köln on a season-long loan from VfL Wolfsburg in summer 2024. His performances in the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal saw Köln exercise the €12 million buy option.
The move secures Köln’s midfield depth for the 2025-26 season. Kaminski made 31 appearances across all competitions for Köln last season, contributing five goals and four assists.
Köln sporting director Christian Keller confirmed the permanent deal after the club’s 3-1 loss to Bayer Leverkusen. Keller stated the club’s long-term plan justified the investment.
The deal includes a €50 million release clause. Kaminski’s contract runs until June 2029. Köln will announce the transfer details at a press conference on Thursday.
Kaminski becomes the fourth permanent signing for Köln this summer, following the arrivals of Florian Dietz, Marvin Obuz and Bright Gyamfi.
