Marco Silva to Leave Fulham, Near Benfica Deal
Marco Silva announced he will depart Fulham after five years at Craven Cottage. He is reportedly nearing a deal with Portuguese side Benfica.
Silva signed a three-year contract with Fulham in July 2021 following the club's relegation to the Championship. The appointment came as the Cottagers prepared for a season in England's second tier.
He guided Fulham to promotion back to the Premier League in April 2022. The swift return fulfilled the club's objective of an immediate bounce‑back.
Silva, 48, said Fulham will always be in his heart in an open letter to supporters. His current contract is set to expire at the end of June 2024. The coach indicated he will move on after the contract ends.
Benfica are expected to negotiate terms with Silva in the coming weeks. Fulham will commence a search for a new head coach ahead of the next season.
