AC Milan talk to Ruben Amorim as Rangnick‑Glasner plan stalls
AC Milan have spoken to Ruben Amorim, the former Manchester United manager, as they continue to search for a replacement for Massimiliano Allegri. The club still regards the pairing of Ralf Rangnick and Oliver Glasner as the most likely configuration for the Rossoneri.
The search follows the departures of Massimiliano Allegri, Igli Tare, Geoffrey Moncada and Giorgio Furlani the day after the 2025-26 season ended. Milan remain in talks with prospective head coaches while awaiting a decision on the Rangnick‑Glasner proposal.
Recent information suggests Milan prefer to install Ralf Rangnick as technical director and appoint Oliver Glasner, described as a disciple of the former Red Bull revolutionary, as head coach. Glasner is available after leaving Crystal Palace, but the club wants to secure a technical director before confirming his appointment.
Ralf Rangnick is currently under contract as head coach of the Austria national team, which is attempting to secure a new deal to retain him. His contractual situation explains why Milan have not yet confirmed his role. Rangnick was observed during the UEFA Nations League 2024/25 League B Group B3 match between Austria and Norway.
Gerry Cardinale has spoken with USMNT head coach Mauricio Pochettino, and Ruben Amorim’s candidacy is noted as similar to Pochettino’s. Neither Amorim nor Pochettino are leading candidates; that status remains with Oliver Glasner, though the final outcome could change if Ralf Rangnick declines.
