Alfie May returns to Doncaster Rovers on season-long loan
Alfie May has re‑joined Doncaster Rovers on a season‑long loan from Huddersfield Town, with the move confirmed in June 2026. The 32‑year‑old striker previously played for Doncaster between 2017 and 2020, tallying 23 goals in 110 appearances and helping the club win promotion from League Two.
May's earlier spell at Doncaster saw him make 110 appearances and score 23 goals between 2017 and 2020. He also contributed to the club's League Two promotion during that period.
In the 2023‑24 season, May finished as the top scorer in the league for Charlton, netting 23 goals. His goal‑rich form continued in the third tier with Cheltenham Town, where he recorded 43 league goals across the 2021‑22 and 2022‑23 campaigns.
May signed for Birmingham City in 2024, adding 16 goals in 44 appearances as the club captured the League One title. His performances attracted interest from Huddersfield Town, who secured his services later that summer.
Since joining Huddersfield Town, May has featured in 40 matches and found the net seven times. The forward’s loan move returns him to a familiar environment where he began his professional journey.
"Coming back feels like home, it's a club that means a lot to me," he said. "They took me out of non-league and put me on a pathway and I never looked back."
All deals were finalised in June 2026.
