Atletico Madrid poach 16‑year‑old Alvaro Vega from Real

🇪🇸 7 uur geleden

Sixteen‑year‑old Alvaro Vega will leave Real Madrid’s Cadete A side to join Atletico Madrid, marking a swift response after Real signed a fellow academy prospect. The transfer underscores the ongoing rivalry between the two Madrid clubs for emerging talent.

Vega primarily operates as a left winger but can also play as a second striker, and he has already represented Spain at the U15 and U16 levels. His versatility and technical ability have made him one of the most highly rated players of his age group.

The youngster began his development at Getafe before joining Real Madrid’s academy five years ago, where he progressed through the ranks at La Fabrica. His performances at La Fabrica earned him a place in Real’s Cadete A squad last season.

Atletico Madrid expect Vega to start his first season as a youth player with the club, though it remains unclear whether he will be placed in the Juvenil A or Juvenil B team. The decision will depend on his performances during the pre‑season period.

Atletico’s coaching staff have expressed high expectations for Vega and will monitor his development closely over the coming months. The club views his arrival as a direct response to recent Real Madrid signings from Atletico’s own academy.

Just days earlier Real Madrid confirmed the signing of 15‑year‑old right‑back Adrian Bielsa, intensifying concerns within Atletico’s academy about the outflow of young talent. More than ten players under ten have left Atletico’s youth system in the past three years, adding pressure to retain prospects.

A photo of Vega taken by Angel Martinez accompanies the announcement, highlighting the excitement surrounding his move to Los Rojiblancos.
