Barcelona sign 16-year-old Samuel Borniquel to first pro deal
Barcelona have signed 16-year-old midfielder Samuel Borniquel to his first professional contract. The deal reinforces the club’s focus on retaining La Masia talent.
Borniquel arrived from Real Zaragoza in 2024 and is rated as a standout prospect in his age group. His composure on the ball and intelligence have earned him a place in the club’s long‑term plans.
Hours later Gorka Buil also committed his future to Barcelona, having joined from Real Zaragoza as well. Hugo Garces, another midfielder from Zaragoza’s academy, has previously secured his future with the Blaugrana.
Recent academy renewals include forwards Artem Rybak and Noah Garcia, midfielders Oscar Medina, Ignasi Bassas and Unai Balmon, defenders Guiu Xuclà, Ahmed Abarkane, Pere Villacorta and Luca Perez, and goalkeeper Elliot Daussy.
Ebrima Tunkara remains an exception, progressing at an accelerated rate within the academy.
