Bayern Munich interest in Liverpool's Rio Ngumoha collapses
Bayern Munich's attempt to sign Liverpool winger Rio Ngumoha fell through after Liverpool refused to sell. Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg reported the collapse on his personal X account. He noted that Vincent Kompany held direct talks with Ngumoha, and David Ornstein said Ngumoha became Bayern’s primary target after the Anthony Gordon deal collapsed. FC Bayern confirmed Ngumoha as the next big thing.
Liverpool's underwhelming season has prompted a managerial change, with Andoni Iraola replacing Arne Slot. Several first‑team players are expected to return from injury, while Hugo Ekitike remains sidelined until at least January. Ibrahima Konate and Andy Robertson have already secured moves elsewhere, leaving Mohamed Salah’s future uncertain.
The 17‑year‑old Rio Ngumoha has featured in 29 games across all competitions, contributing three goals. His ability to operate across the front three has seen him start regularly under the new coach. Cody Gakpo’s poor form this term could open the left‑wing spot for Ngumoha.
Bayern Munich’s attention has shifted to Nathaniel Brown and Ismael Saibari as alternative left‑wing options. Liverpool must resolve Ngumoha’s contract, which has two years remaining, to avoid losing him for a minimal fee.
