Benfica close in on Wolfsburg striker Pejčinović
SL Benfica are in advanced talks to sign Wolfsburg forward Dženan Pejčinović. The 21-year-old has made 34 appearances for Wolfsburg this season, scoring 12 goals.
Benfica’s sporting director Luís Borges confirmed interest in the player. Wolfsburg’s general manager Thomas Treß described Pejčinović as a key asset for the team.
Pejčinović’s contract with Wolfsburg expires next summer. Benfica could table an offer before the end of the current transfer window.
The striker has scored 15 goals in all competitions this season. His form has attracted interest from multiple European clubs.
Wolves currently sit third in the Bundesliga. Their attack, led by Pejčinović, averages 1.8 goals per game.
A move to Benfica would reunite Pejčinović with former Wolfsburg teammate Paulo Bernardo.
