Brighton Rejects Coventry City's £20m Offer for Carl Rushworth
Brighton have turned down a reported £20m bid from Coventry City for goalkeeper Carl Rushworth. The offer was made after Rushworth's loan spell at Coventry.
Rushworth played every league match for Coventry during their title‑winning Championship campaign. He kept 17 clean sheets and was among the division’s standout performers.
At Brighton, Rushworth is currently behind Bart Verbruggen and Jason Steele in the goalkeeping hierarchy. The club sees his development as a long‑term project rather than an immediate sale.
Rushworth has one year left on his contract, with an option for Brighton to extend for another season.
Brighton’s recruitment model favours early talent identification and patient development, and the club appears to believe Rushworth can challenge for a bigger role.
Coventry may seek to improve the offer, but Brighton have indicated they are not ready to part with the goalkeeper.
