Camprubí Says Barcelona Election Unity Failed, Laporta Won

🇪🇸 4 uur geleden
Joan Camprubí, 39, led an attempt to unite opposition to FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta during the club’s last election. The effort collapsed and Laporta secured a decisive victory. Camprubí approached Victor Font, Marc Ciria and Xavi Vilajoana, members of the ‘Som un Clam’ group, to forge a joint alternative list. Their combined platform aimed to challenge Laporta’s bid, which included the hiring of Hansi Flick. The three candidates failed to co‑ordinate a unified campaign. Laporta’s ticket continued unopposed and won the ballot overwhelmingly. Camprubí now reflects on the election’s dynamics and cites the lack of cohesion as his chief concern for Barcelona’s near‑future governance. He warns that fragmented opposition could hinder decisive club management. He also references Enrique Riquelme, a businessman positioned as a rival to Florentino Pérez. Camprubí worked with Riquelme three years ago on an undisclosed project. Camprubí suggests future Barcelona elections may hinge on whether opposition forces can overcome internal divisions. He urges a strategic rethink to protect the club’s long‑term stability.
