Hélder Tavares Extends CD Tondela Deal to 2027

Hélder Tavares has renewed his contract with CD Tondela until June 2027. The extension continues a link that began in June 2015. Tavares is captain of the auriverdes and is approaching 200 appearances for the club. He is set to start his eighth season with the team, though not consecutively. In club statements, Tavares described CD Tondela as his "casa". He said: «É sem dúvida a minha casa. Já o disse várias vezes ao longo destes anos, foi em Tondela que passei dos melhores momentos da minha carreira, foi aqui que cresci e onde me senti sempre bem, e foi com naturalidade que chegámos a este ponto de prolongar a nossa ligação». CD Tondela were relegated to Liga Portugal 2 after collecting 28 points from 34 matches. They finished 17th in the Liga Portugal Betclic season. In the 2025/26 campaign, Tavares featured in 23 matches. He accumulated roughly 700 minutes wearing the auriverde shirt. The renewed deal secures Tavares' presence for at least two more seasons. The club will rely on him as it prepares for competition in Liga Portugal 2.
