Eustáquio celebrates Porto title after LAFC loan
Porto midfielder Stephen Eustáquio reflected on his role in the club's league title win despite playing the season on loan at Los Angeles FC.
Eustáquio joined LAFC in January 2024 and made 12 MLS appearances while maintaining a close connection with Porto throughout the campaign. The Portuguese side secured the league title in the 2023–24 season.
"Senti-me campeão como adepto e jogador," said Eustáquio, emphasizing his dual pride as both a fan and a player in Porto’s success. His contributions from across the Atlantic were acknowledged by Porto’s technical staff.
Porto finished the season with 90 points, six clear of second-placed Sporting CP, securing the title in the penultimate round. The club’s dominance included 28 wins from 34 matches.
Eustáquio’s loan deal included a clause allowing Porto to recall him at any time, though the midfielder remained at LAFC until the season’s conclusion. Porto director of football Luís Campos played a key role in structuring the agreement.
The midfielder is expected to return to Porto for pre-season training in July, reuniting with manager Sérgio Conceição ahead of the 2024–25 campaign.
