Como President Warns Chiesa, Cambiaso Too Costly
Como 1907 president Mirwan Suwarso said the club cannot meet the price tags for Liverpool winger Federico Chiesa and Juventus full‑back Andrea Cambiaso. He added that the destiny of midfielder Nico Paz rests with Real Madrid, which holds a buy‑back option. Suwarso made the comments as Como prepared for its first Champions League campaign.
The Lariani have risen from Serie B to Champions League qualification in just over two years, a progress attributed to coach Cesc Fabregas. Como have also invested in stadium upgrades, planning to remodel Stadio G. Sinigaglia to meet Champions League standards. Suwarso expressed confidence the venue will host the club’s home matches.
Suwarso said any opponent would be welcome, but hosting Manchester United or Real Madrid would be spectacular. He noted the club will face several high‑profile teams in the group stage. Reinforcements are still being pursued despite the high price of targeted players.
Nico Paz remains Como’s standout talent, while Real Madrid retains a €9 million buy‑back option for this summer, increasing to €11 million if exercised in 2027. Suwarso confirmed the club has not spoken with Real Madrid recently but will act in Como’s best interest if an offer emerges.
