Turkey goalkeeper Berke Özer omitted from 2026 World Cup squad
Berke Özer, the Turkish goalkeeper who plays for LOSC Lille, will not feature in the 2026 World Cup. He is absent from the extended list announced by national team manager Vincenzo Montella.
The tournament is scheduled to run from 11 June to 19 July 2026. Turkey released a broader pool of players before finalising the squad.
The omission follows a clash that erupted during the last training camp. Özer left the gathering after the incident.
According to the report, Özer slammed the door after his name was omitted from a match sheet. The altercation contributed to his exclusion from the list.
Vincenzo Montella's expanded roster does not include Özer, confirming he is not under consideration for the tournament. The decision underscores the disciplinary concerns surrounding his recent behaviour.
LOSC Lille will continue to employ Özer for club duties, but his prospects of representing Turkey at the 2026 World Cup are now doubtful. The goalkeeper will focus on his performances in the French league.
