Luka Modric Returns to AC Milan Squad for Serie A Match
Croatian midfielder Luka Modric was included in AC Milan's squad for the Serie A match against Genoa on Sunday, 17 May. The selection comes four weeks before the 2026 World Cup. Modric did not take part in the game.
Modric suffered a fracture of his left cheekbone at the end of April. The injury kept him out of the squad for several weeks.
The 17 May matchday list is the first time Modric has been named in an AC Milan squad since the injury. His presence on the bench indicates progress in his recovery.
The fixture was the 37th round of Serie A. AC Milan faced Genoa on Sunday.
Although listed among the substitutes, Modric was not brought onto the field. He remained on the bench for the full duration of the game.
The selection comes four weeks before the start of the 2026 World Cup, marking his return to the squad ahead of the tournament.
