Oliver Glasner departs as Crystal Palace clinches Conference League
Oliver Glasner is leaving Crystal Palace after guiding them to a Conference League title. The club now faces an uncertain future as big clubs target several key players.
Steve Parish, who fell in love with Crystal Palace as an 11‑year‑old when they reached the FA Cup semi‑final in 1976, recalled rescuing the club from administration in 2010. He also noted that three trophies were won under Glasner’s management.
Jean‑Philippe Mateta scored the decisive goal against Rayo Vallecano in Leipzig to seal the Conference League triumph. The victory qualified Crystal Palace for the Europa League.
Parish described the achievement as “incredible” and an “amazing achievement”. He added that reaching the Europa League showed that “the good guys win”.
The departure of Glasner and interest in the squad signal the start of a new era at Selhurst Park. The board must now decide on a successor and how to retain the talent that secured the recent success.
