Turkey names 35-man pre-World Cup squad including Deniz Gül
Turkish Football Federation announced on Monday a 35-player preliminary list for the upcoming World Cup. The roster is described as an "expanded squad" for the national team's preparation.
The list will be used as a pool from which the final World Cup roster will be selected. Coaches will assess players during upcoming training camps and friendly matches.
Among the 35 names, forward Deniz Gül, who currently plays for FC Porto, has been named. The squad also includes Demir Tiknaz, a midfielder from SC Braga.
Gül's inclusion highlights his progress in Portugal's top flight with FC Porto. Tiknaz, who has featured for SC Braga, adds depth to the Turkish midfield options.
Both players are expected to compete for places alongside established internationals. Their club performances this season will be closely monitored by the coaching staff.
The Turkish federation will announce the final World Cup squad after the evaluation period, likely in the weeks leading up to the tournament. Fans will watch the upcoming friendlies for clues on the final selection.
