Doski scores to secure 1-1 draw for Iraq vs Spain

Iraq secured a 1-1 draw with an understrength Spain in a World Cup warm-up at Estadio Riazor. Doski scored the equaliser for Iraq. Seven of the eight Spanish players who debuted in the final preparation match will not travel with the squad to the United States. The Spanish side will therefore be missing those debutants for the tournament. Spain will leave Santiago de Compostela at 10 am on Friday. The team will fly to Chattanooga, with a stopover in Nashville. Luis de la Fuente’s side remains among the favourites for the World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The coach acknowledges that the lineup fielded against Iraq was not recognisably his. Mikel Merino entered the match for a 22-minute cameo. His contribution did not alter the final score. The draw is not considered a cause for alarm. Spain will aim to regroup before the tournament.
