Real Zaragoza relegated after draw with Las Palmas
Real Zaragoza confirmed their relegation to Primera RFEF on Sunday after a 1-1 draw with Las Palmas. The 58-time La Liga participants ended 13 years in Segunda División without promotion.
The Maño finished 18th with 35 points from 36 games. Results elsewhere sealed their fate despite their draw.
Manager Rubén Baraja’s side collected just 10 points from 18 matches in the second half of the season. They won once in 2024, losing 11 games overall.
Zaragoza’s last La Liga campaign ended in 2012-13. Their previous relegation came in 2008-09 to Segunda División.
The club now faces its first season in the third tier since 1977-78. Their return to Segunda lasted 34 years.
President Jorge Mas will oversee the restructuring required for Primera RFEF competition.
