Strasbourg rivals Sevilla to sign Sevilla right-back Oso
Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace enters the race to sign Joaquín Martínez ‘Oso’ from Sevilla FC. Sevilla cannot renew Oso’s contract due to financial losses. Oso’s contract runs until 2027 with a €20m release clause.
Villarreal also monitors Oso’s situation. Sevilla aims to secure Oso’s future amid financial constraints. Strasbourg presents a competitive offer backed by Chelsea’s financial involvement.
Oso, 28, has made 120 appearances for Sevilla since joining in 2020. He has scored four goals and provided eight assists during his tenure. Sevilla acquired Oso from Villarreal for €12m in January 2020.
Strasbourg’s offer includes a higher salary and faster pathway to Europe. Sevilla’s financial situation prevents matching outside bids. Oso’s departure would reduce Sevilla’s defensive depth.
Villarreal retains interest as a potential fallback option. Sevilla’s board holds urgent meetings to address the situation. Oso’s future hinges on the outcome of these negotiations.
Sevilla’s next step remains uncertain as Oso considers his options.
