Fabio Grosso appointed Fiorentina head coach until 2028
ACF Fiorentina announced Fabio Grosso as the new head coach of the first team, signing him to a contract that runs until 30 June 2028.
Born in Rome on 28 November 1977, Grosso began his coaching career in 2013 within the Juventus Youth Sector. He was a member of Italy’s 2006 FIFA World Cup winning team. He made his senior managerial debut with Bari in Serie B in 2017 and has also coached Olympique Lyonnais, Frosinone and US Sassuolo Calcio. During his tenure he achieved two promotions from Serie B to Serie A and guided Sassuolo to an 11th‑place finish as a newly promoted side.
Grosso thanked President Giuseppe B. Commisso and his mother Catherine for entrusting him with the Fiorentina role. He pledged commitment, professionalism and ambition from day one.
Sporting director Fabio Paratici said the appointment brings a World Cup champion with a proven method to the club. Commisso echoed the sentiment, stating that Grosso’s personality and ideas will help build a stronger, more competitive Fiorentina.
Fiorentina secured Serie A survival with two games to spare in the 2025‑26 season, having replaced Stefano Pioli with Paolo Vanoli in November 2025. Paratici was appointed sporting director in February 2026.
