Fermín López Operated Successfully, Out Three Months
Fermín López underwent successful surgery today. The operation follows a fifth metatarsal injury that will keep him out for roughly three months.
The injury occurred in the penultimate round of LaLiga against Real Betis. It was a fracture of the fifth metatarsal of his right foot.
Medical staff performed the procedure on the same day the injury was confirmed. They reported the surgery went without complications.
Recovery is projected to last about three months before he can return to competitive action. This timeframe aligns with typical healing periods for similar injuries.
The three‑month lay‑off means López will miss the upcoming FIFA World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada. His national team will have to adjust its squad without him.
The loss is a setback for the side that had counted on López’s contributions in midfield. Coaches will need to look to alternative players for the tournament.
