Fiorentina target Niclas Füllkrug for €3m
Fiorentina are targeting 33‑year‑old German international Niclas Füllkrug on a bargain €3 million deal to replace forward Roberto Piccoli, who is on his way out of the Artemio Franchi. The striker arrives after a half‑season loan at Milan that yielded just one goal in 20 Serie A games and a season at West Ham that produced three goals from 29 appearances.
Füllkrug’s representatives at ROOF have opened talks with Venezia about a possible transfer, as the club prepares to return to Serie A next season. A continuation at West Ham in east London appears unlikely after the Hammers’ relegation to the EFL Championship.
Fiorentina aim to intercept the negotiation, eyeing the striker for as little as €3 million. The club views the price as a bargain to secure a forward capable of filling Piccoli’s departing role.
During his spell with Borussia Dortmund, Füllkrug recorded 25 goal contributions in 43 appearances across all competitions. His performances helped the German side reach the Champions League final.
In the preceding Bundesliga campaign with Werder Bremen, he netted 16 goals, sharing the league’s top‑scorer accolade with Christopher Nkunku. Both forwards finished the season level on the tally.
Nkunku later joined Milan, where he was a teammate of Füllkrug during the latter’s loan spell. The Milan attack struggled collectively that season, a factor highlighted in the analysis of Füllkrug’s limited output.
If the deal materialises, Füllkrug could feature for Fiorentina in the upcoming Serie A campaign, providing a physical presence up front. The analysis was compiled by Anshuman Joshi for GIFN.
