Hamburger SV extends Daniel Heuer Fernandes' contract
Hamburger SV announced on Thursday morning that goalkeeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes has signed a new contract. The club did not disclose the length of the deal.
Heuer Fernandes said he is very happy with the renewal and feels deep trust and connection with the club. He noted that he has just completed his seventh season since arriving in 2019.
Sporting director Claus Costa called the season a very strong one for Heuer Fernandes in the Bundesliga. Costa said the keeper was a fundamental piece that contributed decisively to the club's survival.
Costa added that Heuer Fernandes demonstrated quality on the pitch and acted as a decisive personality. He also highlighted the goalkeeper's important leadership role in the locker room.
Heuer Fernandes is 33 years old and moved to Hamburger SV for the 2019/20 campaign. Since then he has established himself as the first‑choice goalkeeper.
In the current campaign he appeared in 34 Bundesliga matches. His performances were described as crucial to Hamburger SV's Bundesliga campaign.
