French Tax Authority Clarifies Widow Tax Filing
Tax experts clarified that when a spouse dies during the year, taxpayers must submit two separate tax declarations in the spring of the following year.
The guidance was provided by the Division of personal taxation of the regional directorate of public finances of Brittany and Ille-et-Vilaine (DGFip35).
Taxpayers are required to file two distinct tax returns for the fiscal year in question.
Both declarations must be submitted during the regular spring filing period.
The authorities advise following standard filing procedures to ensure compliance.
For additional assistance, taxpayers can contact the regional tax office directly.
