Jefferson Lerma's Free Transfer Blocked by Crystal Palace
Jefferson Lerma, 31-year-old Colombian midfielder, will see his contract with Crystal Palace expire in June, and he is seeking a return to Spain after eight years. Valencia and Sevilla have expressed interest in signing him on a free transfer. Crystal Palace is currently preventing the move.
He has indicated willingness to join a Spanish side without a transfer fee. The free‑transfer scenario aligns with the clubs' budget constraints.
Valencia have prepared a proposal that would bring Lerma to the Mestalla without a fee. Sevilla have similarly signalled a free‑transfer offer. Both clubs aim to strengthen their midfield options.
Crystal Palace, however, has not released Lerma and is blocking negotiations. The English club's stance leaves the Colombian midfielder in limbo until his contract ends.
Lerma will become a free agent in June, after which Valencia or Sevilla could finalise a deal if Palace relents. The next weeks will determine whether he returns to La Liga or remains in England.
