Juventus appoints Giovanni Carnevali as CEO after Comolli exit
Juventus FC announced that Damien Comolli has left the club by mutual consent. The club confirmed Giovanni Carnevali will take over as Chief Executive Officer and General Manager.
Comolli was appointed a year ago, first as General Manager and then as CEO in November 2025. Tensions with coach Luciano Spalletti and disagreements over transfer decisions were cited as reasons for his departure. The decision was confirmed at an extraordinary board of directors meeting on Friday morning.
Giovanni Carnevali joins Juventus after serving as CEO of US Sassuolo Calcio since 2014. He also sits on the board of Lega Serie A. The announcement featured a photo by Alessandro Sabattini showing Carnevali observing a Serie A match between US Sassuolo Calcio and ACF Fiorentina on 6 December 2025. In his introductory statement, Carnevali thanked majority shareholder John Elkann for the trust placed in him.
Juventus finished the 2025-26 campaign in sixth place. The club will compete in the Europa League next season. Juventus said the new appointment aims to strengthen its sporting and industrial project while respecting its heritage and fan ambitions.
