Schalke to Extend Loris Karius Contract Early
Loris Karius's contract with FC Schalke 04 runs until 2027. Schalke plans to extend the agreement before its scheduled expiry.
The revised deal would raise Karius into Schalke's top‑salary segment. His projected earnings would rank among the highest paid at the Gelsenkirchen club.
Schalke's wage structure has been reshaped since the costly signings of previous seasons. The current payroll no longer mirrors the inflated expenses of those years.
The early extension fits Schalke's effort to keep wages sustainable. The club has moved away from the high‑cost contracts that defined earlier seasons.
Karius, 31, is Schalke's first‑choice goalkeeper. He resides in Gelsenkirchen as part of his contract.
The early renewal will be concluded before the 2027 deadline. Negotiations are taking place in Gelsenkirchen.
