Kevin Campbell's hat‑trick fuels Nottingham Forest's 1996 win

🇬🇧 1 uur geleden
On 17 August 1996, Kevin Campbell netted a hat‑trick as Nottingham Forest thrashed Coventry City 3‑0 at the City Ground, a result that sparked early optimism before the campaign yielded only six Premier League victories and ended with the club at the bottom of the table. Dave attended the Forest‑versus‑Coventry clash at the old Highfield Road stadium on his 13th birthday, watching the Reds win 3‑0 on a beautiful sunny day. It was the first of many road trips to come. Arthur remembers the Southend away fixture in 1993, the first away match of a new season that saw Forest already relegated. A shortage of hotel rooms forced supporters to sleep in their cars, prompting police to draft in reinforcements. The sold‑out game even had Teddy Sheringham sitting with Forest fans. Gary recalls losing at Coventry 2‑1 on the opening day of the 2021‑22 season, with the winning goal arriving in the 96th minute. Forest later turned the tide by winning the Championship play‑off final. Jack recalls Everton away on 20 August 1977, when pundits wrote the team off before the season began. Bob Wilson dismissed the side as a "flash in the pan". Forest finished as champions and later secured the European Cup on two occasions. Fans are invited to return to the page at 10:00 BST to see how the Reds' 2026‑27 Premier League fixtures have fallen.
