Kevin Keegan Reveals Stage‑Four Cancer Diagnosis
Kevin Keegan, 75, disclosed he is battling stage‑four cancer. He spoke about the diagnosis during a weekend appearance at the Tyne Theatre and Opera House.
Keegan’s family announced the cancer diagnosis in January. The former England, Liverpool and Newcastle player had been diagnosed earlier that year.
“They said we have a top doctor with this new way of fighting what you have got, which is stage four cancer,” Keegan said. He added that the doctor was a Liverpool supporter and that he would not face the illness alone.
Newcastle United issued a statement expressing heartfelt support and warm wishes. The club’s message emphasized solidarity with Keegan and his family.
Keegan managed England and Newcastle United after a playing career that included Liverpool. His public update marks the first detailed comment since the family’s January announcement.
Supporters are urged to respect his privacy while awaiting further medical updates. Keegan’s condition remains the focus of the football community.
