Leeds United target free-agent Julian Brandt

🇬🇧 3 uur geleden

Leeds United are reportedly targeting German international Julian Brandt, the 30‑year‑old free agent who left Borussia Dortmund, as they aim to boost a squad that finished 14th in the Premier League last season. The Yorkshire Evening Post says the move could add experience and quality to Daniel Farke’s side.

Leeds view Brandt’s arrival as a chance to inject proven European experience into their midfield. The club’s hierarchy sees the free‑agent as a catalyst for a more competitive campaign.

Brandt, 30, leaves Dortmund with 57 goals, 70 assists and 307 appearances to his name. He also boasts more than 80 Champions League matches and 48 caps for Germany.

Leeds consider themselves one of several options for Brandt, noting that at least one Champions League club is also interested. His versatility, having played as a number 10, central midfielder and winger, would give the team tactical flexibility.

The Yorkshire Evening Post also indicates Leeds are monitoring Northern Ireland international Shea Charles, who impressed last season. Charles has attracted attention from several clubs.

Leeds’ transfer strategy appears focused on adding technical quality and proven experience, with Brandt epitomising the high‑calibre target. While free transfers carry risk, Brandt’s record across domestic and European competitions is already established.

Financial terms, playing opportunities and personal ambitions will shape the final decision, the report adds. Targeting a player with nearly 50 Germany caps signals Leeds’ ambition to progress beyond merely increasing squad numbers.
