Cazadieu Sets Conditions for Canal+ to Carry Ligue 1+

Jérôme Cazadieu said on RMC's Matinale that Ligue 1+ will only be carried by Canal+ if specific conditions are fulfilled. He was responding to Maxime Saada’s suggestion that the channel be added to Canal+. Saada had framed the proposal as a “hand‑out” to satisfy football fans who want Ligue 1+ on the Canal+ platform. The comment reflected popular demand but did not outline the contractual terms. Cazadieu holds the role of marketing and editorial director for the Ligue 1 broadcaster, which co‑broadcasts the competition this season and will hold exclusive rights from the next season. His position gives him authority over distribution decisions. He stressed that one prerequisite is the inclusion of Ligue 1+ in Canal+’s sports package. Without that bundle, the channel would not be available to Canal+ subscribers. A second prerequisite is the cessation of any legal actions the encrypted Ligue 1+ channel has taken against the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP). The broadcaster wants all disputes resolved before a deal is struck. Cazadieu warned that all conditions must be met before any agreement can be finalized, indicating that negotiations are still at an early stage. He did not specify a timeline for when the conditions could be satisfied. If Canal+ agrees to the terms, fans could see Ligue 1+ added to their sports offering next season; otherwise, the channel will remain unavailable on the platform for now.
