Liverpool close to signing Brighton right-winger Yankuba Minteh
Liverpool have moved a step closer to signing a right-winger after Brighton confirmed the arrival of Zadok Yohanna. The 18‑year‑old Nigerian joins Brighton from AIK, opening the door for a potential departure of Brighton’s current right‑winger.
Liverpool’s need for new wingers this summer extends beyond replacing Mohamed Salah. The club has lacked quality and depth on the flanks for some time, with options looking thin even before Salah’s exit.
The sale of Luis Diaz left the squad lacking balance, and last season the team often relied on players operating outside their natural positions. When Mohamed Salah or Cody Gakpo were unavailable, Liverpool’s attacking structure weakened, making the attack predictable and easy to defend against.
Brighton already possess several wingers, notably left‑winger Kaorou Mitoma and 21‑year‑old right‑winger Yankuba Minteh. With Zadok Yohanna arriving, Brighton appears to have secured a replacement for Minteh, increasing the likelihood of his departure.
Liverpool’s first likely target is Yan Diomande, while the second could be the fast right‑winger Yankuba Minteh. Under Andoni Iraola, Minteh could develop into an incredible player at Anfield.
