Real Madrid target left-footed centre backs Bastoni, Gvardiol, Schlotterbeck
José Mourinho has arrived at Real Madrid as the new head coach. His first priority is to recruit a left-footed centre back.
The club’s sporting department has identified three left-footed centre backs as primary targets. Those players are Alessandro Bastoni, Joško Gvardiol and Nico Schlotterbeck. All three are currently under analysis by Real Madrid’s hierarchy.
Each of the three defenders is known for playing on the left side of central defence. Their profiles have attracted interest because of the scarcity of left-footed centre backs at the club.
The potential transfers are expected to involve considerable fees, described as “million-price” deals. Real Madrid’s board is weighing the financial implications of each option.
Mourinho’s arrival coincides with the club’s desire to strengthen the back line ahead of the upcoming season. The focus on left-footed centre backs reflects a tactical need identified by the coaching staff.
The summer transfer window will determine whether Real Madrid secures one of the three candidates. A successful signing could complete Mourinho’s initial squad overhaul.
